The Mayor's Office

It gives me great pleasure to see the third London LGBT Job Fair taking place in the capital.

London is the most important centre of employment in the UK and is also home for up to

three-quarters of a million LGBT Londoners. The Fair is now an established community event

supported by private companies and public sector organizations working to tackle

homophobic discrimination and support their LGBT staff.

I'm determined that London should be a city where you can be exactly who you want to be, and live your life as you’ve dreamed it, without fear. This should be true in all parts of your life, including when you are at work. Yet many LGBT people still experience prejudice, harassment and abuse in the workplace. This is completely unacceptable. It makes obvious business sense to me that everyone performs better at work if they can be themselves.

I strongly encourage organisations to sign up for the London LGBT Job Fair and hope many LGBT Londoners will attend.
